Chocolate pudding

I had about a cup of milk sitting around and decided to make some pudding out of it. I used rice flour for thickener (gluten free), cocoa powder and sugar mixed in a bit of water like you would for gravy. I added that to the milk in which I had melted butter. After it thickened I added vanilla and the tail end of a bag of chocolate chips. I then ate some while it was still warm and have two more servings in the fridge! Do you ever make pudding from scratch? What's your favorite?
