We were invited to a Quinceanera today

United States
September 3, 2017 1:37pm CST
But it is so hot, and it is an hour away I will pass on it. Yesterday was pretty bad with the heat , my pets were not feeling good and i was overly hot. Today is a little bit cooler, but not cool enough to leave the house. I never been to a Quiceanera , I hardly know this young lady, but she looked really nice when she left to the even.. For those wondering what it is. One of the most important celebrations in Mexican culture is the tradition of the quinceaƱera. This constitutes a ceremony on a girl's fifteenth birthday to mark her passage to womanhood, to give thanks to God for his blessings, and to present a young woman to the community photo from the internet

But the girls are still under age when they're 15! It seems a bit early to celebrate their 'womanhood'.

I think with hispanic girls, they marry early and considered women.. i will still see her as a kid, she walks by here every day going to high school.. i know when i was younger living in a different neighborhood 3 hispanic families moved in. They came from mexico and they said out there they were able to drink and go to clubs, something they didn't do here. We are behind they say... Although my family is partly hispanic, we do not speak spanish, born here, and did not do this celebration.

@MALUSE your welcome, I would say they are a little more mature than the average 15 year old, odd but true.

yes, i would have liked it but it is very hot to go out side and i am not doing that good today. Actually in weather like this , is when i have trouble with kidney stones, so i am playing it safe. She just told us yesterday and it was 110 out side , but i did let her know probably not, we would travel in this heat.. she looked gorgeous i saw her getting on the limo bus her family hired for the day.

@CookieMonster46 those who can afford it follow the 18 candles, 18 roses, 18 wishes, etc. but others just have a simple party.
