My poor shrub...

Had withered and died. The leaves had fallen off, my shrub is bald and turned brown.
I had re pot it from the old flowerpot to a new pot, new soil and compost but it didn't survive. My guess is someone had poisoned my shrub, just that I don't have any proof.
Any idea how to revive my shrub?

yes, I could , just $20 per pot but I really wanted to save this shrub. I can't bear to let it die

@peachpurple My goodness you have to spend money for that. Try to watering it twice and adding some fertilizers.

@Sreekala ok, still didn't see any leaves but the stem of the shrubs are not green

er, could that be the soil was too tight and no any oxygen in? Maybe loose soil and less water could help?

should I poke some holes into the soil? How do I loosen the soil?

@peachpurple Maybe you could get rid of the whole shrub out for a while, and put the soil on the ground and loosen it, then put the soil into the pot again with shrub. I think. But I don't know whether it works a lot, I usually do that to save my plants. Good luck.

yup but the previous soil was red brown soil, not the black, brown soil.
