The second free tour of the Preston Heritage weekend was a look behind the scene of Preston’s Lancashire Archives which contains an estimated nine miles of rare documents and photos for students, historians, and general readers. I got to meet and chat with a restorer as she showed her delicate repair work to a fading 18th century map, slender thread by slender thread. Documents in the archive that were brought out specially for us included a beautifully crafted letter from Queen Elizabeth the First, including the royal seal. I will be joining the archive library myself in the near future. A lovely tour of an amazing collection of work not accessible through ordinary public libraries. Arthur Chappell

@teamfreak16 it would take much longer to read nine miles than walk it
