Money or gifts which do you prefer

Some gifts were handed to my baby some days back, when I unwrap them there were things I had in abundance, and I was like I wish they gave me the money, I would have bought what the baby lacks not having same things in abundance and some things are not even available.Though I was still grateful because those things wouldn't be bought for a very long time.
Even most about- to -wed couples now need money than gifts because it doesn't make sense of having so many same things, you might end up giving them out.All right so which do you prefer money or gifts?

If it was a relationship, I would prefer gifts but in accordance with the post, I prefer money

Gift, because that means the one who bought made an effort to think what to buy whereas money feels like they just did the easy way out. That's just my opinion though.

I always give money in both of these cases, I think that the people can buy what they need later on.
