Grade K or 1 - We went somewhere for a picnic .. Grade 1 - My class went to the Aquarium down the street ftom my house. I loved the sea lions, but glad I didn't get wet by them. Grade 2 - We went to a cranberry bog, picked some each, tried them, and learned how they are done.. but couldn't tell you that now. . Grade 3 - We went on a two hour boat ride around the Cape Cod Canal. Saw a bunch of different fish on the deck, and had snacks and drinks underneath - which is where I and many others stayed most the trip because we learned we get sea sick . Grade 4 - We visited a lighthouse or two. Grade 5 - Each 5th grade class spent a different week throughout the year at the Cape Cod National Seashore. This was my first time sleeping away from home, and I got homesick. Wanted to leave within 5 hours of being there. But I had the best teacher, and she helped me through it.. and I ended up having an okay time! Grade 8 - Those in the 8th grade that had the money, went to NY for a weekend. We walked around Time Square, went to the Wax Museum, saw the Blue Man Group live, had a dinner / dance cruise around the Statue of Liberty, and .. we saw the World Trade Center area. And, there were the trip to the Plymouth Plantation, some camp, and I'm sure some other trips too.. I just can't remember them, or what grades they were for..

Having gone to school along the coast of south Florida, most of our grade trips each year somehow involved beaches and lighthouses. For 6th grade, we got to go spend a weekend at Cape Canaveral, and got to see a shuttle launch. For 7th grade, we spent a weekend at Disney World. And for 8th grade, we spent a week at a camp in north Florida, and we all got to stay in cabins. I remember several of my friends lost their virginity on that trip. The teachers didn't exactly keep a close eye on everything, as there were supposed to be boy cabins and girl cabins. But the girls would all sneak over and sleep in the boys cabins. It was crazy. I think they eventually stopped doing that trip and replaced it with something else, although I can't remember exactly what.

@Courtlynn It definitely was a fun trip, but mostly I just remember them trying to rush us around from place to place in Disney to keep us on schedule. It was like we didn't have a chance to just relax and have fun. I mean, it was fun, but we were constantly being herded around like cattle the whole time! lol

As far as I can remember, they were. I loved grade 8. Going to NY for the first time, with 2 of my then 3 bestfriends (one couldnt afford the trip).. and we shared a room together and had fun times chatting both nights. Plus being crazies together at the wax museum.

@Tina30219 they stopped the trip the year before my twin cousins got to 8th grade, so they're the only ones in the family who didnt get to go to ny for it.

Six years in grade school and I was only able to attend one field trip due to financial constraints.

@Courtlynn field trips aren't free here in the country. The fees for these field trips are usually included in the tuition fees of schools.

That sucks! All our field trips were free for us, besides the 8th grade one because we went out of state and needed hotel rooms and such

How cool you got to visit a lighthouse. I have always wanted to see one and never have. I have seen the light from a lighthouse while driving at night toward the coast, but never the actual lighthouse. Most of our field trips involved farms or local historical sites. In 8th grade I got to visit Donner Summit, the infamous location where the Donner Party got stranded during the winter and had to result to cannibalism. And those who had money got to go to Great America and spend the day riding roller coasters toward the end of my 8th grade year. I had a few end-of-year swimming field trips, including visits to water parks in a nearby city. In 6th grade we visited San Francisco and walked across the Golden Gate Bridge. That was the first time I'd seen the ocean. Now I want to make a post about all my field trips as a kid and see how many I can actually remember. There were quite a few in elementary school that weren't really educational. Like in second grade when all the local second graders gathered at the high school for a square dancing "dance off"!

Still counts as a field trip though! And please do, would love to read it and see what else you got to do for them. As every state is different, as we can already see.

I remember going to a sugarhouse and having hot maple syrup on snow. It was delicious and started my love of the liquid amber gold. There were the usual museums that we visited. Not much that I recall that stood out in my mind except for the Clark Art Museum. Loved looking at all of the artwork. We went to the farm of one of the teachers and got to see farm animals. Had a picnic lunch and played yard games. Played my first game of croquet that day. It was fun. One that stuck out in my mind was the trip to the Bennington Battlefield. It is in Hoosick, NY. Was accused of losing a Frisbee that cost 77 cents. The boy that it belonged to pestered me for years over that. When I see him out and about I remind him of that. One day I am going to hand him a dollar and tell him to keep the change. LOL.
