The particular gentleman that I'm writing about has appeared in my music countdowns before, although not in this guise. #2 in my Favorite City Songs (done first by @FourWalls) series is "Seattle" by Public Image Limited (also known as PiL.)
Odds are that you are at least aware of the Sex Pistols and their vocalist, Johnny Rotten. After the Pistols imploded, he started using his real name, John Lydon, and went on to form Public Image Limited.
"Seattle" is the lead off song on the band's 1987 album, Happy? Lydon, according to guitarist Lu Edmonds, took a very hands off approach, preferring to just do his vocals rather than participate in the creative process. The song was essentially created in a hotel room, based around a couple of Edmonds' guitar riffs, with bassist Allan Dias adding his line while sitting on a bed.
"Seattle" did ok, as far as chart performance. It stalled at #47 in the UK, but spent four weeks on the chart. It also reached #30 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Songs chart, on which it spent seven weeks.
And, as a bonus, to me, anyway, former Siouxsie and the Banshees guitarist, the late John McGeoch (one of my favorites) played on the song/album.

@teamfreak16 -- I actually do have a Bobby Sherman song on my iPod. Maybe I need to count down my ten biggest embarrassments....

Teen idol, Bobby Sherman, star of "Shindig" and "Here Come The Brides", was a sensation back in the late 60s, early 70s. Like his contemporaries eg David Cas...
