What do you think of atheists?

That was the question that one of my friends (who is an evangelical) asked me this morning. I felt that this was an indirect to me (because I do not follow any religion, but I believe 100% in God). But my friend thinks religion and faith are intertwined. How would you respond this?

I think if you believe in G-d then that is very important. I always thought athiests did not believe in anything. There is hope for you yet.

I am an atheist - we are just like everyone else except we don't believe in God, just as most Christians don't believe in Ra, Thor or Zeus

Confused because most atheists say they don't believe in God? I also believe in God so if asked the question would say they are people like anyone else and if they have good morals and have not wronged anyone then could not find fault with the person. As for saying faith and religion must be be intertwined well that's a different story.

I have a lot of ways I'd respond to it, none of which an evangelical would like (or would end up telling me, "You're going to hell"). I think "church and belief are not synonyms, there are lots of people who don't believe in God in church every time the doors open" is a tactful response. (I'm not that tactful.)

@TheInvisibleMan I have no problem with atheists.I am a Hindu and believe in God.They don't. It's their choice.I don't think religion and faith are intertwined.

It is the personal choice of the individual to believe or not believe. If your friend thinks religion and faith are intertwined, so be it.
