It's Christmas time!

As the song goes; "It's the most wonderful time of the year!" I went to one of the famous local markets here in Manila, Divisoria and there I found lots of people shopping gifts as early as September. I went there to buy some tools and materials for a souvenir commission yesterday. I wish I can buy stuff for giftgiving as early as now but my priority is to buy materials for my shop customer. And suddenly I got curious, fellow myLotters: do you keep a shopping list when buying gift for Christmas? I myself I don't have one yet as I can't figure out whom to give on Christmas day. Can you share me some of your best practices when shopping gifts for Yuletide season? I need your best practices, guys. Thanks!

I see... But fo sure you buy things for your dearest on a special public holiday. What are the things that you would consider aside from the receiver's likes and your budget?

I always love shopping during festive season as there are good deals. I am not sure how it goes in your country but in mine the sales are usually huge and you get some pretty good deals.I love gifting the less privilege though as oppossed to friends during the festive season.

It is pretty festive here. There are people everywhere and sales are shooting high like skyrockets. How do you choose the perfect gift for your love ones during holidays?

It is more convenient to give out money so they can buy what they want afterwards. Giving gifts to your son and husband is still the most special way to give a present.

Me, too. That's why my list hasn't been prepared yet and I am not sure whom to give gifts to. I don't have much relatives near in our area recently. I have another sibling but he's in another town and we don't see that often.

Me, too.. Probably one of the main reason I'm bad at buying gifts to someone. The last time I bought someone a Christmas gift which didn't turn out right was for my brother. I bought him a pair of board shorts which didn't fit him, it was too small. I can't even pick the right size for my son when it comes to buying shirts, too.

I just couldn't stop and end up buying a lot of stuff instead of planning over it. I think in this kind of situation, planning for a shopping list is more tiring than shopping alone, hahaha

@YesWay Yeah! The most exausting time of the year, indeed. Also, all of our crazy customers here in our shop would wanbus to print a lot of Christmas gift labels bevause they also bought a lot of gifts for their friends and relatives and they don't want to write their names manually anymore. That's also one way of saving time in labeling gifts and to prevent mixed up with the gifts. You don't want to switch other's gift to the wrong person, right?

@resy21curapika And let's be honest - Christmas shopping is exhausting at the best of times

Back in the day, yes, I shop with a list but nowadays since i only give cash or I don't give any gift at all, I just do away with the list.

@resy21curapika yes, I stick to a budget. Putting personalized stickers is a good idea. I'll try that this year.

I agree... Giving out red envelopes with money on it is also applicable and less stressful. Then they can buy their items afterwards. I had a cusomer before who wants to print out labels for envelopes with greetings on it. It's like a sticker and she just stick on it once she put the money on it. Kids also love it since it's also a way to personalize a gift even if it is a simple money. Do you have a certain budget how much are you giving away to kids?

I envy you. I wish I can have that skill. Even when going for a grocery for the items we need over the next 2 weeks, I don't have a list. I guess the danger of it is you will end up overspending, right?

I love shopping during festive season, in India almost every mall has a sale going on at that time, sometimes the deals are good, sometimes they are not, we need to BE CAREFUL

Ah yeah, same thing here. There are lots of pickpockets and snatchers in this area.We are also reminded to be careful and stay closely to our belongings when shopping in bulk. Another method were doing is to go to the mall without those fancy jewelry because it is unsafe and not to mention you won't going to need it. Once I went to the mall with my pajamas because when I was young, we're just 5 minutes away from the marketplace. The next thing you know the entire nighborhood is doing the same. You don't need to go there with fancy clothes, you just need to buy what's important then go home.

@vsai2008 sometimes they tend to flash a lot of jewelry and wear expensive clothing for them to show they have lots of money. I was a saleslady before and I think it isn't necessary to wear like a "boss". Sometimes they shouldn't boast about it because they can also attract the pickpocket's and snatcher's attention, too.

@resy21curapika Our neighborhood is also famous for chain snatchers, because of that everyone is careful while going out. I agree with you on clothing aspect as well, some people dress too much these days, comfort is very important while shopping LOL that too when there is a sale hahaha

Hahaha, I might be guilty about this in the future. That's how I see it, too. I might end up buying a lot of things that is out of the list. But I think it's harder to shop on a limited budget or don't have the money to buy items than keeping a shopping list. It's hard to shop if you don't have money in the first place.
