Mr. Lister Is In Trouble

Yesterday while I was over at my parents' house, doing laundry, my dear, sweet cat, Mr. Lister, decided to pee all over my side of the bed. I had left some clothes in a pile on the bed and apparently he took it as an invitation to relieve himself. My boyfriend texted me about it while I was still at my parents' house and I texted back wanting to know how we were going to wash that stuff, since it was getting late and I wouldn't have time to wash multiple loads of sheets, clothes, and a comforter while I was still at my parents' house. (I don't think the comforter would even fit in their washing machine.) He never responded but did start chewing me out about how it was my fault this happened since I left the clothes on the bed. Well, being blamed for the cat peeing where he's not supposed to really rubbed me the wrong way, and I got mad. I did not talk to my boyfriend the whole ride home when he picked me up. When I got home, I was furious (and disgusted) to see that my boyfriend had left the drenched sheets, comforter, and clothing pile on the bed for me to deal with. He was perfectly capable of stripping down the bed and driving the bedding down to the laundromat at the end of the street, so we could have had clean bedding by the time he came to pick me up, but no, it didn't occur to him to do that, since it was my fault that the cat peed on the bed, and therefore my responsibility to clean it up. I got really, really mad and yelled at the cat. I picked his fat butt up and packed him down the hall to the room, showed him the mess he made, and yelled "BAD!!" at him. He shrank away from me and ran off. Then, once I had calmed down and we had put clean blankets on the bed, I tracked down Lister and told him I loved him, but that I don't love naughty Lister who pees on my bed. To which he promptly chomped my finger. Then I was mad again. It has taken us all night but I think the cat and I have finally started to forgive each other. He finally jumped up next to me on the couch a little while ago and settled next to my legs, which is where he usually sleeps. He has been offish to me all night and I am still irritated that he peed all over my side of the bed. Of course the one I'm really mad at is my boyfriend. Despite what he thinks, it's not my fault the cat decided to be naughty and pee all over the bed. And it was just downright lazy and rude to leave the mess for me to clean up. I didn't have time to wash the dirty bedding or clothes last night, (the laundromat was closed by the time I got home,) so it'll have to wait until this evening. And you better believe he's going to help me with the laundry. I probably shouldn't have yelled at Lister, but I had to yell at somebody. Besides, he yells at me all the time for lesser offenses, like when his dish is low on food or he wants the tap turned on so he can drink from it.

@m_audrey6788 Yes, I know...but I don't like it when my cat and I don't get along with each other. I hope he doesn't do that again!

Has Lister ever done such a trick before? I heard that some cats when got upset (because their favorite 'pets' are not home to take care of them) they would begin to tatter the whole place up.

He has, but it's been a while since he last soaked the bed like that.

@YrNemo I wasn't able to get to the laundry tonight because I had a bad migraine. So I will likely do it tomorrow (or today I guess, since it's now after midnight.)

@Srbageldog You got everything done by now? I feel so sorry for you, suddenly having extra work to do and extra expense to pay!

I would have yelled at them both as well! My husband did the same to me this morning before he left for work. Pebbles pooped in my son's room (thank God it was the floor) but my husband came down to tell me about it and headed out the door. Thanks babe! Then says if he does that again he's gone. Not happening but he can say whatever he wants...

@Srbageldog I have no idea why they do things like that. Lol. Thank you, sorry you had a mess as well.

Ugh, what is it with men leaving the mess for us to deal with? My boyfriend acted like he couldn't comprehend why he should clean it. Sorry you were also given a "gift" to clean up.
