Former Denver Broncos head coach Robert "Red" Miller passed away on Wednesday due to complications of a stroke. Miller was 89 years of age.
Miller was the head coach of the Denver Broncos from 1977-1980 after he was hired to replace John Ralston at the end of the 1976 football season.
Miller in his rookie year as the head coach of the Denver Broncos he was able to make his players believe they could be Super Bowl contenders by leading them to 12 win and two losses season.
In the playoffs the Broncos led by their Orange Crush defense beat the Pittsburgh Steelers and Oakland Raiders to represent the American Football Conference in Super Bowl XII which was played in the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.
But the Cowboys who had the top offense and top defense team in 1977 were able to beat the Broncos in the Super Bowl by a final score of 27-10.

Super Bowl XII was the last Super Bowl I saw on the Southern Command Network (SCN) in Panama in 1978. It was the beginning of what would become Broncomania in Denver when Dan Reeves coached them and then Mike Shanahan.
