Telling you for all the paper we went thru to do the 5, yes 5 questions for her math, to do this all the time I need a small woodland cut down. I finaly figured it out, well enough to get her thru the work. Seriously thou went thru something like 7 pages, front and back of a tablet to get thru the 5 questions of math. That said it took us about 9 hours total to learn and do 5 division problems. Now I did them the "old fashion way" in about 5 minutes. Something wrong with this new way of teaching as far as Im concerned. When you take something easy and make it into triple the steps if not more, what is the point?

Once the steps are established, the kids could shortcut, couldn't they? My kids all gone through that phase, these days, they just look at the numbers, the maths, and within seconds, got the answer.

No you have to write it all down step by step .. even if she can look at the problem and do it in her head she isn't allowed all has to be written down with all the steps.
