Some persons want to keep a treasured item when a loved one passes on. This story is bizarre though.
Sir Walter Raleigh was executed and beheaded. His body was buried, but his wife kept his head in a velvet bag for 29 years. Now, that’s weird!
Amedeo Modigiani, an Italian artist asked his teenage lover, Jeanne Hebuterne, to die with him, so he could have “my favorite model in paradise and with her enjoy eternal happiness.”
Pregnant with Modigiani’s child, Jeanne jumped to her death, on the day of his funeral. Oh dear!
When Humphrey Bogart died, his wife, Lauren Bacall, put a small gold whistle in his coffin.
Do you know why?

The whistle is a reference to the movie To Have and Have Not when they met and there is the famous scene when she says blow a whistle.

No, it was just a charm from a charm bracelet that he had given her before they got married. I have heard that years ago, some persons could have been buried alive and a whistle might have come in handy.
I put a whistle in all of my Go-bags that I prepared for my family. If a person gets lost, a whistle would definitely come in handy.
Also, do you remember the scene in the movie "Titanic" A whistle is what saved her life. Of course, that was just a movie.

@IreneVincent Yes, I looked up the reference. It was a golden whistle. She apparently told him that if he needed anything he should just whistle.
