Not his payee anymore

So our friend put in for me to be his payee and yesterday I had the meeting to do so and today I had to call SSI and tell them I changed my mind because the guy owes too many people money including us and has a ton of loans and today he decided to buy a 3 wheeler he didn't need instead of paying people he owed. So I took it into my hands and called SSI and told them what was going on (he never reported he had loans out there) and cancelled my payee application on him and his old payee said good idea because I didn't need his stress of him trying to control me and his money. I am not telling him I cancelled because he screwed us so I did some thinking and thought that the state can stay his payee for all I care. Because if anything goes to court, I don't have to worry about it. I am glad I decided not to.

You did the right thing by not being his payee.

Good to hear you discovered this before it was too late. These are the type of friends that want to bring people down. You don't need to tell him you cancelled let it be a lesson to him and others who have such a habit.
