Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels has extended the current contract of Jeff Banister though the 2019 Major League Baseball season.
Banister has been the manager of the Texas Rangers since 2015. Under his leadership the Rangers made the playoffs in their first two baseball seasons. However during the 2017 baseball season, injuries to their star players and a bad bullpen kept the team in contention to make the playoffs until the final week of the current baseball that ended with a record of 78 wins and 84 losses.
Daniels is confident that the Rangers will take care of their relief pitching woes before the start of the 2018 baseball season.
The reason Daniels picked up the team option of Banister is because he did not to have to deal with questions from the media about the job security of Banister who would have been a lame duck manager in 2018.
