Volunteering: Painting Nails at a Hospital

United States
October 6, 2017 12:50am CST
I want to go to a local children's hospital to paint nails of kids who are sick. Unfortunately, there are not that many hospitals in my area specifically for kids. I have read stories on the web about others doing this. Has anyone else done this or heard about it? I am going to use a "7 Free" nail polish that's low odor, and use disposable brushes for the polish. Any tips for sterile practice?

This kind of volunteering is a great idea, but I would like to suggest face painting. Kids love that (including boys, who might not take to their nails being painted) and you could get their parents to take pictures of them.

Good idea. Another option I have considered for the boys is temporary tattoos.

@craftsmart Girls would like that too! Some of our girls have henna temporary tattoos (lacy ones). Boys would love spiders and volcanoes and stuff like that. And cars.

I don't have any tips for you but I think that this would be something children would enjoy greatly and a good way of using your skill.

Oh, it would be nice if you can do that to all of the hospitals near you. I think sick kids like that.

Did you go on the internet and check out hospitals that would do in your area?

That is a sweet thought that you have for them. Why not just print nail stickers so that it doesnt really have an odor at all and no need to sterile it.

Good to think of something good for the children. I've never done or heard about it. Maybe you will be the first and people will follow your example.
