I chase after volumes or sets of volumes by authors I know and love.

Pages doesn't really matter to me. A good book is a good book regardless of the number of pages.

I think more pages does mean more content, and possibly pictures if it is a nonfiction book.

The number of pages really doesn't matter. By more content, you run the risk that it may be more boring. By less pages, the content may be more intensive. But, as I love reading, for me it doesn't matter how extensive the book meanwhile the history is interesting and well written.

I love thick books! Although I don't like elaborate, pages long explanations I do like great character development. I love a nice long book with an engaging story and generations of characters or decades of history or alternate worlds. It's like being in an entirely different plane of existence, a vacation that lasts as long as I read. I'm usually disappointed when I reach the end of such a book but it's a very satisfying experience.
Shorter books can also be enjoyable. I just like to immerse myself into another world and civilization/era.

I don't like when a book is too verbose. This is often the case of self-help book. But also I don't like when it just lightly does not cover important stuff. That's the case of textbooks. In the latter case, the books have to be thorough and will have 1,000 pages or more.

If I find the book interesting; it does not matter to me how many pages are in the book.
