I feed the street dogs, but my neighbors don't like it

Quite often one or two poor, homeless, unhealthy street animals ( dogs or cats) came passing by my house. No one cares with them. However my mom or I always give them some food each time we see them passing by. I only can give them some food and water, nothing else we can do to help them as we only have a small house that it is impossible to let the dogs staying with us.
But, I don't know why some of my neighbors start saying that we are stupid and wasting food.
I told this to my mom, and she advised me to never listen to whatever they said.
Well, I get confused, what's wrong with feeding the starving street animals.

Do not care about neighbors, it is not their business. We have no street dogs in my place, but several cats in the streets, and when I had a front garden, I was always feeding them. My cat and the previous one were street cat that were quite wild when they adopted me.

They are the ones that are stupid. Never stop what you're doing. You are a kind soul and someday, you will be rewarded with your kindness. Never change who you are just because your neighbors are saying things about you.

@A_loves_B One who does that always don't expect anything. I have a friend who does the same and he does that at two different areas every Wednesday evening. The dogs already know him and they know when he's coming.

You are an angel and you are doing a very noble act and good deed for showing your compassion and kindness. Animals too have feeling and animal is also a creature of God. Just don't pay attention to other criticism, at the end of the day, your kindness will never go unnoticed.

I think you should not bother about what your neighbors say and you should continue to look after street dogs, as no one takes care of them.

it's not their money, their time nor their energy that you're using to feed the stray dogs and cats, so it's not their problem.
