Former Harlem Globetrotters basketball player Connie "The Hawk" Hawkins passed away on Friday due to an illness. Hawkins was 75 years of age. Hawkins played basketball in the American Basketball Association (ABA) for the Pittsburgh/Minnesota Pipers, the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Hawkins was one of the earliest basketball players who had a flair for showmanship on the basketball court during his basketball career. Hawkins was very active in helping members in his community after he retired from playing basketball in 1976 in the Phoenix area.

Connie was before my time but I admired him for helping out people in Phoenix after he retired without getting publicity from the media.
