I bouht a deep freeze a couple of years ago and thouht That I´d never fill it. Well, I did! And now it is well past the time of eating some of its contents so that I can clean it and fill it with new contents. One of the drawers had to be emptied last week because Claudia bought Vicente´s cake and then came here to study. I did it, but drawers should not be left empty. So until I empy the rest, I am placing bread. I hope that I can unclutter a great part of it so that the rest oes to the freezer in the fridge. Only then I will be able to clean it. It has to be defrosted entirely and the only way to take away the drawers is from the bottom to the top. I´m already tired and I haven´t started Do you have a method to eat the contents of your freezer and then clean it?

I am lucky (or something) because I have an old upright freezer that i don't trust to use all the time, but I plug it in when it's time to clean out the big freezer and put things in there while I'm sorting and cleaning. I used to use a cardboard box or two, with several layers of newspaper under, around and on top of them to keep things frozen while I cleaned the freezer. I store meats, vegetables, soups and miscellaneous in their own area of the freezer so I know where to look and as I go through them, I try to make a list of things that need to be used up first, then make a list of meals I could make from them and that's my "go to" menu for the next few days or weeks.

It´s a very good idea to use a cardboard box as an insulated box. I´ll use it. Thanks!!!

I don't have a deep freezer, but I do need to clean out my freezer that's connected to my refrigerator. It has been a while since I have cleaned it.
