Why are you going to church?

Please, don't get me wrong ok? I just would like to know what leads you to go to church considering that you can pray anywhere and anytime. I mean... Is it something cultural? Is it something familiar (as a tradition)? Is it to perform some kind of specific activity? Or... Is there any other reason?

Yeah, its kind of because it's a tradition, but it is also a time to be with other like minded people who are like a second family to me. They support you and you support them. I go to a smaller church where there's a lot of familiar faces. For example, one mother at our church got cancer, and so our church members independently supported her by watching her kids, taking her to appointments, etc. It is also a place to refocus and feel refreshed to face the coming week and remind yourself o what it's all about. I don't know about others, but that's what I like about going.

I`m a catholic and grew up going to church on sundays as our weekly visit to a holy place but we also do visit daily on our "Blessed Sacraments" where you can pray alone and meditate with God

The Bible tells us not to forsake the gathering of the Brethren, and so meeting with other Christians is important, but really, there is no reason it has to be in a church. However, a set time to hear God's word and praise Him with others is important too. I think for me it is both in one and often I have to be there as I am the preacher and really do find God gave me a message to tell others. Usually, it also applies to me. There is something very special about united worship and prayer and when it is hard to pray alone the encouragement from the group helps you move forward.

I think it is a sense of community. Some do it to make time to worship in a safe place, others do it to be able to worship with other people. I hate organized religion, but respect people who take time to do something that makes them feel safe.
