"Feel like your life is going nowhere?" Then perhaps you should listen to #3 in my Favorite Industrial Songs series: "Welcome to Paradise" by Front 242.
Formed in Aarschot, Belgium, in 1981, Front 242 ("Front" being a euphemism for an organized uprising, 242 just a "design work,") is a legendary industrial band that is credited with being one of the bands that helped bring the genre to a more mainstream audience (Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, and KMFDM being the others.)
I've used "Welcome to Paradise" before, in my Favorite 80's Dance Songs countdown, but it's such a great tune that I can't help but use it again.
The final track on the band's 1988 hit album, Front by Front ("easily one of the best industrial albums ever made," according to Wikipedia,) "Welcome to Paradise" was not, probably due to it's religious connotations (yet not speaking from a pro-religious standpoint,) released as a single, but boy, was it a heavy rotation fixture in the goth clubs (not to mention that it crossed over into the more adventurous mainstream clubs.)
As for this video, it's an incredible live version (I've seen them, and I can vouch for the sheer energy put forth by the group.) While the album version is made up entirely of soundbites of televangelists, the band actually performs the vocals themselves here. I must say that it's a blast. I hope you enjoy it!

I do the same with 9:29. 929 was a local punk band back in the 80's, here in Colorado Springs.
