As you know, sleep deprivation is not good for your health. When you go through a night lack of sleep, then you need to few days to recover if you not young anymore.
Metabolism usually is working very well when you are a teen. If you are above and don't do sport a lot. Sorry, you will hard to get recover soon if you stay up late or do something harm for your health.
I am the sample of stay up late or sleep deprivation. On this Monday, I only slept 2 hours, then I need over the rest days of this week to recover. Even this weekend. I will get up early to jog and breathe some fresh and cool air on Saturday morning. The cool weather finally come here for a while, better than not coming. Then, on Sunday morning, I will do yoga to relex myself.
Cook some delicious food to reward myself? Er, no, I;m kind of lazy. What would you like to do at the weekends if you want a weekend of healing/

I think you needed more milk in the morning so you can keep up with your body resistance. Get well soon

In my opinion, metabolism has nothing to do with aging but it does have to do with physical deterioration. Normally as you age, physical strength goes down because most people do not pay heed to their bodies. Their lifestyle changes from good to bad.

I can relate. I know how damaging sleep deprivation is, yet I still do it. I usually sleep in a lot when I can or take naps.

A regular sleep habit would be better.

@Behindtheguitarbar right. the number of sleep hours is not so important to me, it is the quality of my sleep that matters most.

@ridingbet the quality of sleep is more important than the number of sleep hours.
