The Bible: Do You Really Understand What The Bible Contains? I have talked with many people who have so many different ideas about what the Bible contains. What I have learned is that most people have based what they believe on what other persons have told them rather than reading the Bible for themselves. Few things are as fascinating as the GOOD NEWS from God that is in the Bible. Some persons think that the Bible is all about punishment of the wicked. Some even believe in a burning hell fire because they have been TOLD by others that the wicked will burn forever. Some believe that God is just looking for reasons to punish humans and that the disasters that befall humans are from God. Nothing could be further from the truth. Some believe that the Bible is difficult to understand, but that is not true either. The Bible actually centers on the GOOD NEWS that God has a LOVING PURPOSE for mankind. “Bible-thumping” preachers have tried to SCARE people into coming to church, threatening them with a burning hell, but is that working? No! And many people have stopped attending church for that very reason and also for the reason that some churches simply want more MONEY. Some churches are ran like a business rather than a place to learn about God and what the Bible says. Many churches are closing their doors and many others are resorting to entertaining their members with bands and dancers and holiday celebrations. But honest – hearted people want to know how to survive this wicked world we live in and they want to know what the future holds for their children and grandchildren. Each person is under obligation to read the Bible for himself and NOT to believe what someone else has told him that the Bible says. What is called the “Old Testament” contains a history of God’s dealings with the Israelites and it explains how man’s privilege of living on a paradise Earth was lost early in human history. But, it also explains how a paradise will finally be restored. This is the GOOD NEWS. The “Old Testament” also explains the Written Law that God gave to an ancient people and how that LAW was fulfilled by Jesus Christ, the Messiah. The “Old Testament” is important because it reveals God’s personality and can help a person to know God and it explains how a person can become God’s friend. What is called the “New Testament” covers the life of Jesus as a human on Earth and what he taught his followers. Any hope that a person has for the future depends on getting to know God and Jesus. There is a brochure that you can read in your own language, that will explain all these things for you. I encourage you to read this brochure. You can download it. I urge you to check this out.
