You might find these a bit weird, or even silly, but I am counting down my Favorite Band Names, and we have reached #5 in the series, Pop Will Eat Itself. The second of three grebo bands in this countdown, Pop Will Eat Itself formed in Stourbridge, England, in 1986, and, after a hiatus, are still at it, albeit without founding vocalist Clint Mansell (he has been replaced by former Gaye Bykers on Acid vocalist Mary Byker. It's good to see that he's still doing something.) Pop Will Eat Itself took their name from a New Musical Express article by David Quantick. I have seen the band in concert, and greatly enjoyed their energetic set. The linked video for their hit "Can U Dig It?" is centered around the movie, The Warriors, as well as comic books, pop culture, and other musical acts. Tell me that these guys don't rock! They were played on KROQ in the good old days.

Oh, to have grown up with KROQ. All we got was KFI at night.

@teamfreak16 LA was really lucky. Depeche Mode is in town and there was an interview with Gahan and Gore and it was KROQ playing them first causing a following that grew from LA and that's why they consider LA "home."

@JohnRoberts - Bands do tend to remain loyal to the city that broke them. Rush loves Cleveland.

This wasn't the band I was thinking of when I mentioned I'd read about grebo earlier, but I don't see how you could have left them off the list. And, as you say there are three I'm sure the gboa will be here as well eventually. I also listened to "Wise Up Sucker" and "Ich Bin Ein Ausländer." I like that line, "When they come to ethnically cleanse me will you speak out?"

Oh, they definitely will not come as a surprise. I don't think anyone will know #4, though.
