There are two kinds of people in this world when it comes to driving, whether you're learning or already doing it. Some people can't wait to drive and it's like a dream come true when they do it. And then there's people like me who has major anxiety or fear when they do it and it's like an agonizing action we have to take everyday as responsible adults. Yuck.

I learned and was driving from the age of 10. You might wonder how can a 10 year old drive or was allowed to drive. When I was a kid we live in a small town where my family is quite famous. No police or traffic officer would dare touch me when they saw me driving. Plus during that time, it was rare to see a woman deriving much more a kid. So instead of getting mad at me, my dad was awed and quite surprised how I learned at that very young age. But of course I was taught the traffic rules and all. But now, I'm tried of driving and I just see it as an obligation.

Wow, that is such an original story. I've never heard of a story like that before. My father would tell me how he would be allowed to drive in his young years before being a teen and getting a liscence. That's pretty cool. I am terrified of driving and didn't get my liscence til the age of 21. I am 23 right now. It has always been an obligation for me, but at least I can drive well to do my tasks, right?

@runningthegalaxies Why are you terrified of driving? When I was 14 I got my student driver's license.

@toniganzon It's like I said in the description. Some people are able to handle driving like it's nothing, but to other people, driving is a terrifying thing for multiple reasons. For me, I have no sense of direction. It makes a while to learn one direction and I can only go that one way. I can't mirror it either. It's like I am going a different direction, so I have learn that way too. It's really crazy how my brain can't work for it. Some people can do it, some people can. It's because our brains can process different things and not all things together, so it makes different people. I freak out when I get lost, but at least I am able to handle myself and find my way again, you know? =) I nervously drove every single day. Another matter (like anyone else) is that I won't to get in any type of accidents. I don't have to sense of measuring my care either. I did learn a little but how to measure it as I kept practicing driving, but I can't always do it. Some people can see the imagery of invisible measurement and act upon it like nothing, such as parallel parking, which is something I cannot do. Ha ha!

Maybe you are still not stable or you have just started driving along roads with heavy traffic.

@runningthegalaxies With time you will manage. You get lost because you just moved to the bigger town and is still learning of the roads there.

I did start driving along heavy traffic actually. We just moved to a bigger town from a smaller town a while ago and I am still trying to get used to driving through the bigger traffic, such a turning to the road I need to be (which is something I am horrible at since no one let's me in) and I get lost easily because I have no sense of direction, so GPS is my best friend when I drive. It takes me a while to find my way again when I get lost and I totally hate that.

I don't drive and I never will. I freeze behind the wheel when I get scared so it's not safe for me to drive.

Oh no! Yeah, some people have driving phobias and that's that you must have if you can't even bring yourself to drive a simple drive. I hope you are able to overcome it so you can be more independent in that way. I'm sorry about that. I get exactly like that at night. I might deal with the driving terrors during the day, but at night it's a no-no.

It's funny but I learned to drive in the city and I found it really enjoyable and easy. I loved everything from traffic jams to the wide roads to one way systems. Then I moved to a small town and the roads were really narrow with parked cars everywhere and crazy people driving WAY too fast and I developed a lot of anxiety. I actually ended up giving up my car a few years back and I prefer to cycle now.

@runningthegalaxies Yeah, it seems most people do think city drivers have more of a short fuse. I think maybe it's because in my small town the roads are smaller and more windy and other drivers seem to take more chances with silly maneuvers.

Wow that's insane and backwards. That's a really interesting story. I love how everyone had their stories to share. I never knew that could happen. But are you sure? Haha! I really think that city drivers are more psycho than small towns. I do better in small towns than cities and I have anxiety for it, but I drive anyways. So it's a stress put up with everything else for me. Cycling is really good for you so at least you do that! I should do that.

I also love driving a lot it's way of relieving stress and visit new places you can't reach by foot.

That is a really good way to think about driving. It's something I can use. For me it doesn't the opposite affect, I get stressed when I drive. However, when I drive directly somewhere I know my day and the driving experience goes as planned, then it becomes a moment where I can put my music to sing along and visit the fantasy world for a bit.

I'm in the same boat. I'm 18 and haven't got my license or even permit yet. Like I want to be able to get around but I just can't get myself to get started. I already watched the videos, I just have to take the written permit test. I have to take the bus and it would be better if I drove but whatever.

Everyone had their own time when they feel they are ready for something. They can do it if they want to, they just need to practice it at their own time. My time we when I finally got my liscence at 21. But hey I made it. Nothing wrong with being late or early to do it. And your time will come up soon, you'll get practice and then you'll get used to it. It's the same way how you play a video game and get used to the way the game is played and hoe you manage the controls. Same concept! =)
