Helmet: Safety Protection

Wearing helmet when riding is obligatory. Those who don't wear it shall be stopped by traffic police.
Wearing helmet is important to protect the riders' heads when they fall off. Many road accidents have caused death toll due to their head hitting against hard objects. In my country, people wear helmets because they are afraid of being caught by the police not of head injury that can cause death.
What's your take on this? Is okay if you ride to the city helmetless?

It's never ok to ride on a bike without a helmet. Among cyclists, we believe that we should never ride without a helmet at all. And even though we aren't stopped by then police since our bikes are not motorcycle, nevertheless it's our responsibility to protect ourselves. If we bikers can be responsible about that, how much more those drivers of a motorcycle?

@yanzalong I never use any cheap made helmets. Especially the imitation ones. There are a lot of imitations.

Here is a requirement to wear a helmet even for a bike rider
