I don't know if you have been through this, but how much would you feel "powerless" for not being able to tell something about your city / country because you don't know how speak the language of who is asking you an information?

If it's face to face conversation then it will be a problem

Many years ago I stayed with a Russian family. The father could not speak English and I had very limited knowledge of Russian but we sat and spoke all night long till the early hours. Of course it was accompanied with copious amounts of Vodka but we seemed to have many conversations about all kinds of things! Where there is a will there is a way!

I never think it will be a problem. People can still understand each other by gestures and body languages.
