Leave You Standing At The Airport?

I recently met someone, here in my country, who claimed they wanted me to visit them. We would travel, see some sights. Well, the more I got to "know" them, well you can't ever really know someone, so let's say, figure them out, the more I realised that I was very lucky I didn't take their offer to visit them seriously!
Why? Because I now realise they are the type of person that would leave you standing at the airport like a right idiot! They have no substance to them. They think everything is a joke or a game, ugh. Have you ever met someone, thought they were quite nice, to then realise they would probably leave you standing at the airport?

Two years ago I met someone whom I thought was going to be a business partner but then she turned out to be selfish and very greedy. Our business relationship lasted only a year and boy was I glad that I discovered her real self before it was too late.

@bluesa Oh yes, though we are still discussing our case to our lawyer, everything is fine.

Knowing someone a long time and seeing their actions and reactions gives me a clue as to how their personality and trustworthiness are. I have one friend like that who is a bit ditzy, so I wouldn't trust her with certain things. Otherwise, I have no complaints about her or my other friends.

You mean to say that initially you thought the person was nice but later it turned out that s/he was not what he was pretending to be?
I have not come across such a person. If I happen to meet such a person, I apply my own yardsticks to check if the person is genuine. I won't rely an unknown person easily.

@bluesa Yes, we should be very careful in dealing with such people.

i think observing/seeing a pattern in what/how/where people get their laughs also gives you an idea if they have a hidden mean streak

I would never leave you, or anybody else, standing at the airport. That is the cowardly thing to do.

It's great to know that someone half way around the world would not leave me standing at the airport! Luckily I realised quite quick that this person was that type, I hadn't made any serious plans with them, @moffittjc , so, no loss.

@moffittjc it was a possibility...we chatted and the more I figured this person out, the less it became a possibility.

Yes and so I'm very careful with what I believe and who I will trust.
