In case of Sore throats doctors prescribe anti-biotics, but how are viruses dealt with?

Generally cold and cough are caused by different viruses. After some time, people get sore throats. In case of sore throats, doctors prescribe anti-biotics ike Zofacin 500, which arrests bacteria. But I dont have a clue how are the viruses addressed in such cases?

anti biotics do not kill viruses as doctors explained,in fact when it is being use unnecessarily it can only creates strains of bacteria that are resistent to it
I opt on taking and munching herbs like fresh oregano leaves,gargle vinegar or crusha piece if garlic and chew it,spring onions can help too.
sore throat is not a big deal to be treated by antibiotics..home remedies can cure it right away.

Thanks Anna, can you mention any Indian leaves that have same medicinal value like oregano leaves? We dont have it in India.

@sathviksouvik actually it is not all leaf ginger tea with turmeric does same effect as oregano,chamomile sandalwood and eucalyptus it's fragrance alone can treat.it carries the molecules those herbs posses.

@goodgirl_kakay Thanks Anna, if I dont find anything I will take ginger and garlic for the throat. I am having sore throat presently.

I ever read about this, anti biotics didn't kill viruses. Anti biotics just to improve your body protect

Thanks Resky, yes I understand. Anti-biotics increase the immunity in the body to combat the diseases. Cold and cough and sore throat are very common and when immunity is weak a patient gets easily infected.
