I just finished a really moving book, a true story about concentration camps. It shocked me to the core to read about some of the things people are capable of doing to one another. And sadistic people... do they actually enjoy torturing and hurting others? Are some people born evil or does how they´re raised govern this? Some children seem to have a normal childhood then turn out to be mass murderers, how come?!

Some people have mental disorders. You could say that all who commit evil are misled or damaged, because they are not living up to their soul's potential. Some say God is in all of us; what does it mean to use God's power for evil? There is certainly cases of environment directing people towards evil; others do evil in the best of circumstances.

I_agee, but you sound like another terrorist? You seems to be supporting terrorists and angry with the one gentle man who is opposing it ? You cant compare Mr.Bush to Bin Laden, the later is just a misled devil. He must be an agent of Satan. It is very clear from his actions that he is after the blood of innocent people.Bush is only fighting against terrorists.Thats the reason why they and thier generations dont like Bush.

demented evil...as they all hide behind a supposed cause or religion which serves their personal needs!

Great point. They want to be strong but are, in fact, weak and pathetic and hide behind a "cause" or behind others.

I think Hitler and bin laden are totally different. Hitler was able to take an industrialised economy and turn it in to a war machine used both against the world in general and his own people in particular. Bin laden on the other hand is simply a foot note in history. If it had not been for American arrogence who on earth would have heard of him, i feel like saddam we will find him hiding in a hole in the ground . Yes of course they are both evil but weaknesses in the societies within which they were allowed to prosper encouraged their growth and power. Many people are born bad, very few of them get to a position of power

You raise some good points but I don´t think you can blame "American arrogance", whatever you mean by that, for bin Laden. Before the terrorist attacks they were not in the wrong and after they were standing up for themselves against their attackers. This is not "arrogance" but strength and national pride, both of which I respect. I am not American but I would take their side over the terrorist side any day.

No matter how sophisticated humans like to think they are, we are still at a very primitive level and so the law of the jungle is still the law that holds the most sway. In human society it's not always brute force that will make a person top dog, but as they scramble their way to the "top of the heap"( by treading on others) they influence all those around them -- attract or repel according to what the weaker ones want. Many people are coerced into committing acts of evil because of peer pressure and pressure from their superiors -- not that that is any excuse. But once an evil ball gets rolling it's pretty hard to stop it just keeps gathering momentum.
I'm not sure if people can be born evil but I have met one or two who have literally made my skin crawl-- the majority of us are really just ordinary people -- quite weak and not always very brave so we tend to get pushed around quite a bit.

We have to understand that it is the system which produces Hitler, Bin Laden.
Let's put it in this way : "Why Hitlar was Hitlar, Why Bin Laden became Bin Laden?" Can we peek into the childhood of these two personalities? Were they not the same like all the other childs? God never presents a demon to the society, it is us who creats an evil.
There are many areas in our planet where a glass of water is difficult to get, where education is not available, where people has to go miles to reach a hospital. This is on for years. So, if someone comes out of that system and start doing damages to others will we not held our system as responsible?

I've thought quite a bit about that myself. I don't know what would make someone that hateful or even find people who would obey such an order on a miltary basis. I know for certain that I wouldn't because my God is more important to me than some political drive.
I guess it is possible that some people, who we read about as mass murderers in local news, can rise up instead in political power and become horrible dictators. Maybe the value of a human life means nothing to them because their own life is so dim and disgusting. I don't know. It is a scary and terrible scenario for all concerned.

I strongly agree with your point. There are kids with terrible backgrounds who come out stronger for it and lead meaningful lives in adulthood. Having a tendency towards murder and torture cannot be blamed on anyone else, rather your own character. Luckily most people are genuinely good and Hitler, bin Laden etc are the exceptions rather than the rule.

They are evil. Misled people don't do things like what they have done.
