Whatever happened to "Turn The Other Cheek"?

I am just starting to wonder if we are living in some very sensitive times in Major League Baseball today? Houston Astros first baseman Yuri Gurriel will be suspended five games that begin in the 2018 Major League Baseball season for get this, making racial statements and mocking Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Yu Darvish by calling him "Chinito" and mocking him over his Asian roots. Come on Major League Baseball officials, if I were were Darvish I would turn the other cheek when I am insulted by being called "Joker" and "Spammer" by my enemies on You Tube and Disqus. I will make a deal about this incident if I were Darvish. Throw a fastball near Gurrriel's chin area as a brush back pitch next time they meet. First Cam Newton gets in trouble with the Nausea Football League for saying "funny" to a female Carolina Panthers beat reporter and now Gurriel is being called a "racist" for mocking Darvish. If I were Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred I would make all baseball players look at the PBS Kids cartoon movie "Wordgirl: The Rise Of Miss Power". Wordgirl would not be crying to the media that her enemies insult her due to her age and height.

It's an outrage Gurreil wasn't suspended during the World Series when Chase Utley was suspended two playoff games for a hard slide two years ago.

The suspension was overturned. That was "the front office," because the umpires said things were legal (despite Tejeda's broken leg).

That is true. I do remember that MLB did not suspend Oakland A's infielder Bert Camperanis for throwing his baseball bat at Detroit Tigers pitcher Lerron LeGrow for hitting him with a baseball bat in the 1972 playoffs.

@Deepizzaguy - I think that sometimes the press makes such a big deal out of something, that authorities feel they need to do something, rather than just ignore it. Sometimes, overreacting just makes a behavior worse.

@Deepizzaguy - Those are great sayings, but no one seems to practice those ideas anymore.

@DeborahDiane We would be considered wimps if we all turned the other cheek by our rivals.

Have these foreign sports stars ever heard of the saying "Water off a duck" or "In one ear and out the other."?

I remember hearing an older player talking about baseball coverage back in the "three channel days," and how the cameras stayed focused on the field and never showed things in the dugout. Now they have to show the dugout between pitches at least four times per at bat. If the cameras hadn't been rolling it would have been "handled" the way it used to be: Darvish would have knocked the numbers off of Gurriel's jersey next time he faced him. Gurriel would have nodded in agreement ("Yep, deserved that") and gone down to first base, and that would have been that. The problem with these 24/7 sports channels is that they have to have something to talk about for the other 20 hours of the day, so they have to take a molehill and make a mountain out of it. ESPN excels at that. I'd be willing to bet that ESPN rehashes this and gripes about Houston not firing Gurriel on the spot all off-season. Of the things I miss in not having cable any longer, ESPN is not one of them.

I got tired of ESPN with their Hispanic sports stars bashing. As well as the New York Yankees. Have these sports stars remember the old saying from National Lampoon's Animal House "Don't get mad. Get even."?
