This was a frightfully dull episode. The he might be human or an alien in disguise plot has been a staple of numerous Star Trek plots, and generally involves some exciting plot developments.
Here, the body-snatched husband (Bryan Cranston, of Breaking Bad fame) returns from interplanetary war a nice man. We saw him being brutal and mean before he went. His wife gets sex (rather than love) by joining in a basement Eyes Wide Shut theme party orgy, but after returning from the battle after being presumed dead, Cranston presents his lady with strawberries and has sex with her. It seems now that film can only say a couple are in love by showing them stripping off and giving us close ups of their erogenous zones. It was like they had to convince us they were in love so we had to see them shagging to get the message. It was the lack of any real warmth or tenderness in the sex scenes that made them some of the worst ever filmed.
Everyone seems miserable, even those making love. I don’t think anyone smiles all episode.
The trial is marginally interesting though strange that lawyers still dress like Rumpole Of The Bailey characters hundreds of years into the future.
Cranston as executive producer of the series ought to have given himself a part in the best story in the series but this was so boring. Hope the four episodes shown in the new year are better than this.
And why the Wonderwall song over the cloing credits? It was like a random jukebox selection - no relevence to the episode at all

Wow..never hard of this or saw it Arthur, but thanks for the most informative, excellent review. It does seem like a must watch regardless of dullness.

@TiarasOceanView so far there have been three great stories and three not so good - four more to go, but not until January
