I am disgusted !
My mom taught me to sew when I was a teen. Since then , I always sew my torn clothes, come off buttons, hem the stitches of the pants and I could even sew curtain by hand.
I felt disgusted when my 50 year old sister in law asked her mom to sew her hubby pants where the hems came off. She even asked her to sew the came off buttons of her children clothes!
Either she is lazy or too pampered to even sew this easy stuff.
Do you ask your mom to sew for you ?

I used to ask her - I can't sew - if buttons fall off or holes appear I just see those clothes as ruined

@peachpurple I'm not very dexterous - it takes me about 20 minutes just to thread a needle

I can understand guys don't sew, but you can learn online at youtube. Then what do you do with buttons that came off when your mom is not by your side?

My mom is a tailor so she sews all my clothes, but I never insisted to her that I want her to sew. She did it and I am grateful though.

@wongchoiyee you are doing well, sew button is easier than sewing curtain

Probably she had no skill of doing that. I mean she still relies on her mom's help. If she could, she wouldn't have asked your mom.

@peachpurple I think so. That happens to many people as when they were kids they were dependent too much oh their mom.

she could sew but she gave excuses in order to escape the needlework, anyway she was pampered by her mom

I learned to sew when I was very young and always did it myself. My mom had enough to do as she had a job.

I do know how to sew and even did a basic course on that. But I still am not understanding why she shouldn't have asked her Mom to do that?

she can and know how to sew but is lazy to sew the clothes , she is already 50 years old, old enough to be a grandmother, yet she relies on her own mother who is 85 years old to do the sewing, just couldn't accept that! Afterall, my sis in law isn't handicap!

Yes, I sew sometimes. If I can't do it alone after trying I will ask my mother to help me.
