He was disrespectful tonight

So we went to McDonald's for dinner and my son acted very disrespectful and almost got us kicked out. My husband walked out as I was trying to deal with him. People looked at us as I yelled at him and got him ready to go. He wanted to continue playing with the kids and wanted his toy and I told him he had to eat before he got his toy and he started throwing his fits. Normally he don't act like this but tonight I was down right mad. He is calm now and apologized to daddy and I which was good. Hopefully he don't act like that ever again.

You did the right thing by not letting him have his way. I remember one of my sons wanting something in a store. I picked him up and walked out. We sit in the car until he was ready to behave and go back in the store.Everyone was looking at us when we left the store but to bad. He was not getting his way.

Some situations are beyond our control, especially when it comes to kids throwing a tantrum in public. I think you tried to deal with the situation the best way you can.

Back in the day my mother would have whipped our butts right there and NO toy would have been going home with me. Does he do this often? What didn`t your husband handle him?

There are days like that. My nephew is also having his moment and I what I always do is - talk to him and move on. Kids these days are unbelievable. We need to strengthen our patience.

Oh..I am really enjoying it. You got a very nice experience. The only problem is we should be patient to listen to them. This is somewhat thrilling incident and with the passage of time, it remains a sweet memory for both parents and the kids.

Those moments must be very hard for you and your child, individually. I wonder what could have triggered his behaviour? Usually, when something like that happens (in public or at home), the unhappy child wants to express something but can not process it logically and verbally. We, rational parents, may help him/her calm down by calming down ourselves, and reassure our child by asking him/her what's on her/his mind and we show (not tell) that we understand. And as he/she expresses, we both can work on a compromise/deal we both can be happy together with. You are the one-and-only best loving mommy for your precious son. :-)

at this age, it is often to have tantrums, my son showed temper tantrums from young until age 10, right now. So, parents like us, are having a hard time when dining out

@carebear29 either you will have to make an agreement with him before stepping out of the house, or get a paper bag to enclose your head.
