From the smarmy bubblegum we move on to FM ROCK, DUDE!!!! Here's another one of those songs that are staples on FM/classic rock or from classic rock acts that might shock people to know that I like. #7: Touch Me - The Doors This almost sounds like a lounge song with the horn section, but no, I didn't intend this one for the "bubblegum" list. Every time they are mentioned here (or elsewhere) I admit that I didn't "get" the Doors. Even today I don't think Jim Morrison was all that good looking (he was supposedly a major sex symbol in his time, and even people who don't know much about him know about his reputation as "the lizard king," and how he was arrested for "indecent exposure" in Miami [ha, how things have changed!]). And the "poetry," I didn't get that either. I was too young. And didn't do any drugs. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. But I do like "Touch Me." It's probably because it doesn't sound like any other Doors song that makes it sound better than "Riders on the Storm" or any of their other material.
