How Many Of You Take Your Work Home And Don't Get Paid Extra??

We are just about to end a 30 day College Professor's strike here in Ontario ,...not by unions and the Colleges coming to a deal but by the province legislating a back to work bill. One of the issues that started the strike is that professors don't get paid for prep time for class courses nor for marking tests, etc. So I'm asking myself having had many years of being self employed and as well employed by others a question. I frequently take ,and have taken, my work home and do extra without added pay. It just seems natural if you want to get ahead in possible career advancement and also ahead of the pile of work! So I ask you all , how many of you do extra work for no pay and don't begrudge it?

When I taught kindergarten I never got paid for taking the work home needed to do my lesson plans. I also bought supplies out of my own pocket.

When I was working, I never did. I don't think that it is fair from the employer.

Yes, I did take work home with me, working as a typist-receptionist. I did this to keep up with the heavy work load, it was piled up terribly! No, I did not get paid for doing this. Now, I'm retired.
