Ten Classic Rock Songs I Surprisingly Like: Dreams (#3)

I'm trying to make sure people don't get too sick from all that sugary, smarmy bubblegum pop that I'm counting down in my list of...not "favorites" but "songs I can tolerate" from bubblegum world. The only was I know to counterbalance it is to look at FM rock songs that are either played to death or by bands I don't generally care for, but despite that I like (or, again, tolerate) the song anyway. No "tolerating" for these top three....I really like them. Here's today's song. #3: Dreams - Van Halen Ah, the Sam Halen™ era! Never cared for Diamond Dave. If I want to hear that "scream" of his I'll listen to Ian Gillian do it much, much better in "Highway Star." But when Roth left Van Halen and was replaced by The Red Rocker himself, Sammy Hagar, the band got better to me. And yes, I know I'm in the minority of that opinion. This song's appeal to me was aided with one of the videos, which showed the Navy's precision flyers, the Blue Angels. Linked below is the live version at the Whisky, where you can see Eddie Van Halen using that finger guitar playing that he stole from JJ. I can tolerate "Jump" from the Diamond Dave era, but this song blows every lame cover of theirs that was a hit out of the water. It's easily my favorite Sam Halen™ song. Dreams Written by Sammy Hagar, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, and Michael Anthony Recorded by Van Halen From 5150, 1986 So baby, dry your eyes:
I have TONS more Van Halen! Here, check it out: http://www.youtube.com/guitarzforsale

I love their earlier music with David Lee Roth, but sadly I never liked Sammy Hagar, though this song has it's moments, especially Eddie's guitar.

I'm no JJ when it comes to being a Sammy Hagar fan, but the "appeal" that David Lee had to everyone else just turned me off.

JJ will like this pick. By the time Hagar replaced Roth, I was fully into new wave and punk.

I do like the Fleetwood Mac song (that entire album, actually), so that wouldn't be that much of a surprise.

@FourWalls - I totally spaced the Sam Halen song. And I used to own the album.
