Exchanging a Gift

Yesterday one of my friends has gifted me a fountain pen. The Nib of it was made of pure gold. I actually did not like to have it. But, it is given as a gift. So I can not reject it.
Still, I did not like it as it is of no use for me in the present days when everything is done by the hit of a button and hence the service of it may perhaps be little.
I want to exchange it for something other than that. Can I do that? By doing so am I not hurting his feelings? I am in a dilemma.

If it's given as a gift I think it would be nice to keep it although you won't use it.

I would keep it, never know when the computer will be gone and you need to write something.

No. I do not think so. There are many other tools for us.

I'd suggest you keep it. Its valuable, its a gift for you from a friend. Plus I think its the rarity of using fountain pens now a days that makes it a statement piece to own one, more over to write using one. I found fountain pens to be luxurious - from the writing to the ink, speaks of something fancy or elegant for me.
