Is there any reason still to buy a diesel?

After pollution values going up and the VW cheating scandal, does anyone still want to drive a diesel car?

I never wanted a diesel car. I feel they pollute more, but I have no idea if this is true.

I was so unhappy with cars and the high expenses that I sold my car and it is about 2 years that I walk and take public transportation.

We rented a diesel in Ireland and we had the best mileage ever. That seems a valid reason.

Diesel cars pollute the air but unfortunately in my country, there are so many public vehicles and they use diesel.
