Should we give alms to beggars and encourage them or should we not give so that they will also earn a living without begging.

Do you think to beg is a easy way to earn money. Should we encourage it? Many people find this way easy to earn money. They do not want to work. It is okay to give money to physical and mentally challenged people. But should we give to the people who are perfectly alright. I would never give to a person who is fit and healthy. If we give to such a person, we are spoiling him. What is your opinion? Should we encourage begging or not?

I think we should help them and then encourage them to work.

nope... i do not give to our beggars here, only to Church and charity, since if you give them, they will be beggars forever. It would be nice if an institution would pick them up off the streets and teach them some jobs though

For me, I don't give money. I would rather give food to panhandlers. However, it is better if the local government will work harder in providing livelihood program for them.

We should not encourage begging. I have seen of beggars who have become so lazy and hence do not want to do anything else constructive apart from begging. Some have even become rude and even force people to give them the biggest note.

To a beggar, begging is their job ^_^ I've encountered beggars a couple of time, in jeepneys (transportation) and on the streets. Before, I gave them something if not a penny whenever I have commonly food. There was this incident, I hand my newly bought hot bread instead of money for he looks starving, but to my surprise he refused for he don't need bread but a money (;. That's when I realized that, not all beggars need something to eat but instead a penny for their vices. It would be safe to give or donate to the foundation, it will surely be fall on the needy.
