I buy gifts for my brothers and sister and their families, my mother, father, stepmother, ex-husband, friends and Angel Tree kids. My list goes on and on it seems, but it's my favorite part of the holidays. How many gifts do you buy for the holidays? Do you shop all year or buy it right before Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa?

Seven people seems manageable. What kind of budget do you work with?

Well, it started off with just 5 people I had to buy for. Now it's gone up to 12! More than doubled. Crazy! And that's just family! I wouldn't say I shop year round, but I don't usually buy my gifts right before Christmas, either. I like to get started early, but it's usually only a couple months early or so.

When you say it started off with just 5 people, was that like six months ago or years ago? How long has it taken to get to 12 people? Has your list increased due to obligation or desire? Even a couple of months early is better than a lot of people.

I buy gifts for my two children, my husband, my mother in law and my two sisters in law. This year we have a new little baby neice to buy for as well. I might buy a couple of my closer friends a gift too.

Oh, the new niece should be fun to buy for! I have twin grandnephews who were born in May and my grandniece is due December 18th. That's three new babies for us this Christmas. Isn't life wonderful?!

I buy for my kids, husband, mom and dad, mother-in-law, nieces and nephews on my husbands side. Then there's the small odd gifts for teachers, bus driver, guitar teacher, and cub scouts. I usually start my shopping in September.

That's no small list, either. I'm sure it helps that you start your shopping early.

That's quite a list. Do you ever think about whittling it down?

I started shopping the beginning of November, just because I got a good deal on something I would have bought anyway. I buy for my husband, our son, my parents and my brother. My husband buys for his parents and his brother, and for our son and me. So between us, we buy for 9 people, although we're two of them :)

Wow, your husband buys gifts for some of the people on your list...that's impressive! I always found it so hard choosing gifts for my husband's parents. How long do you normally wait to start your shopping?

Generally, it's my wife and daughter. Plus my side of the family (parents, brother, niece and nephews) and hers.

That is quite a few gifts. Do you do the shopping or does your wife do all of it?

I gift buying is very limited this year. I would buy for my favorite nephews but can't this year. I am making baked goods and candies this year. My children and grandchildren will receive mainly homemade gifts.

I buy gifts for my sister, brother, their partners, my parents, my boyfriend, and about one or two friends. I don't buy for many people. My boyfriend is the one I spend the most on since he is my boyfriend. My family is normally personalized gifts, and my siblings partners get bath set or gift cards.
