Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi

Last night we saw the new Star Wars movie. My boyfriend, sister, youngest brother and his girlfriend, and I all went together. One of my brother's friends ran into him there and also ended up sitting with us. We got to the theater around 7 p.m. for the 9:45 showing. A line was already forming but thankfully it wasn't too long yet. We stood in line in the lobby for over 2 hours before they let us into the auditorium, and lucky for us we got good seats.
The movie was great. I won't give anything away in case any of you want to see it and haven't gotten around to it yet. But, it was definitely entertaining. The only thing I don't like about the new Star Wars installments is that something about them just doesn't quite feel like Star Wars. I can't put my finger on what it is. The stories are good, I like the characters, there's a ton of action sequences and the special effects are far superior to those in George Lucas's prequel movies. But...something about the Disney films just seems to be lacking.
One thing that was sad about the movie is the fact that Carrie Fisher, who plays Princess Leia, died a year ago. The Last Jedi was her last performance and a couple times I got teary-eyed when thinking about it.
I will probably see The Last Jedi a couple more times before it leaves the theater. There were some inconsistencies between it and The Force Awakens. For instance, C-3PO's arm is no longer red, even though the film takes up right where the last one left off. There is no explanation for this, and it's not even that big of a deal except he specifically pointed out the fact that he had a new red arm in the last movie. I guess the toys must not have sold as well as was expected, or else Disney just decided to revert back to his old look so they can put out new merchandise to go along with it.
Anyway, if you like the Star Wars movies then I definitely recommend this movie. Although I'm still debating whether or not I will acknowledge it as canon. I think I might just convince myself that none of the movies aside from the original three ever happened.

Thanks, and they are not for everyone I guess. I didn't like them when I was little but became a fan when I was a teenager.

@nela13 That could be too. Plus it's very confusing now with all the different trilogies. The special effects are better now and make the old movies seem lame (at least special effects-wise.)

@Srbageldog Maybe I don't enjoy it because I never saw the all movies in the correct order.

Give me some spoilers. How many scenes Princess Leia have?
Did they reveal Rey's origins?

Princess Leia was in it quite a bit, although I don't know the exact number of scenes. Although I did hear that they cut some scenes to use in the next movie, since obviously Carrie Fisher can't film anything for it.
Yes and no. They sort of revealed Rey's origins, but it's definitely not what anyone was expecting.

@Srbageldog I think I will just watch. I can understand why they decided to conserve the Leia footages since they don't want a CGI Carrie Fischer.

We are planning to go Christmas day, fingers crossed. I can't wait to see it. Poor Carrie fisher, she was an exceptional woman, and so funny. I saw her on Ellen a couple of years ago, and I couldn't stop laughing.

I hope you're able to get in (and manage to avoid any spoilers before then!) I loved Carrie Fisher, I was so depressed when she passed away. And then her mother Debbie Reynolds dying the next day...it was so heartbreaking.
