Colorado, one of my personal favorites. I lived there for 2 1/2 years. My first child was born there. Colorado has so much to write about but I'll try to be brief. First, Denver is the capital city and if you stand on the thirteenth step of the state Capitol building, you will be EXACTLY one mile high., which is why Denver is called the "mile high city." What very few people know, is that one-third of the land in Colorado is owned by the US government. The Royal Gorge Bridge, at 1,053 feet is the highest suspension bridge in the world. At least it was, when I lived there. Denver also boasts the longest street in America. At one time, we rented an apartment on Colfax Avenue. Tim Allen, the actor was born in Colorado. The astronaut, Scott Carpenter was also born in Colorado. The Rocky Mountains are majestic. Pikes Peak inspired Katherine Lee Bates to write the song, "America, the Beautiful." I learned to snow ski in the Rockies. What else do you know about Colorado.

A lot of people say that about West Virginia roads through the mountains. I know several people who get motion sickness going around all the horseshoe turns and hairpin curves. Anytime there are mountains, you have a scary ride but I grew up in West Virginia and got my first driver's license there.

@teamfreak16 I live now in Virginia, not far from Richmond, the Capital. I lived in Colorado for 2 1/2 years in the early 60s. My daughter was born there. I was born in West Virginia. I have also lived in Maine and North Carolina. And I lived in Okinawa, Japan for a year and a half. My husband was in the Air Force for eight years. I have also done a lot of traveling. 44 states and 25 different countries.

My best American friend lived in Colorado. They took us to houses and even a college whose architecture used solar energy. I went to a couple of wonderful springs too.

That's good to know. My husband and his father used to watch boxing when we were dating. He didn't have a lot of money to spend on dates, so he would come and get me in their family car and take me to his house for the evening. And they always watched boxing. I didn't care for it myself. But, I did learn who some of the famous boxers were back in the late 50s. There were not a lot of choices on TV back then. After we got married, I don't remember him watching boxing anymore, but we didn't even have a TV for a LONG time. I remember that we had a TV when we lived in Maine in 1964. A black and white TV with very few channels.
