We have reached midpoint in my countdown of my favorite songs with "Heaven" in the title: #5 is "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" by The Smiths.
"Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" was a single from The Smiths' 1984 compilation album, Hatful of Hollow.
Guitarist Johnny Marr claims to have written the music for the song in one night.
The single reached #10 in the UK, and #11 in Ireland. Among fans, it remains a favorite.
I've linked to a lip sync performance on Top of the Pops. Lyrically, it's Morrissey at his humorously mopey best.

I love the lyrics for this song. Man wants a job. Man gets a job. Man hates job. Man is miserable. I really don't know if I think this is funny or sad, because he states, "Oh, why do I give valuable time
To people who don't care if I live or die?" OK, it's sad.
I absolutely love with all my heart (I just listened to it two times) their Please song, but I'm not too sure about this one.
