Jesus is suppose to be born in Spring. No baby will Survive Winter in the dessert. Christmas is celebrated in December to as a replacement Holiday for Winter Solstice celebration of Pagans. Catholics pray to Mary because there are Pagans who wants to pray to a Goddess and Mary is some sort of a proxy since Christianity have no Goddess.
