Washington County Sheriff's heroic act in Utah on Christmas Evening

Sergeant Aaron Thompson of the Washington County Sheriff's Office is being called a hero when he answered a call from a neighbor who noticed an eight year old who fell into a frozen pond on Christmas evening in New Harmony Utah.
The eight year old was rescued when Sergeant Thompson arrived at the scene of the accident 30 minutes after the boy fell into the pond.
Sgt. Thompson jumped and punched the line with his feet and hands to break the ice and dive into the icy pond to pull the young child out to safety.
The eight year old boy who is named Jason is expected to make a full recovery from his ordeal thanks to the heroic actions of Sgt. Thompson who risked his life to say a young man from passing away on Christmas evening.

I have no idea where his parents were at the time of this incident since it was on Christmas night.
