The calendar is running out of days for 2017. Soon we'll be in a new year. That brought to mind an idea for another countdown: songs that have the word year (or years) in the title. Yes, that song will be in the countdown, and sooner than you think because there are a lot of great songs that have "year" in the title! Let's start at the bottom of the list. #10: Years Ago - Statler Brothers Is this really the first time I've used these incredible, Hall of Fame legends in a countdown? Shame, shame on me! The Statler Brothers are rarities in the world of country music: even people in the pop and rock world know who they are. Their "breakout" hit, "Flowers on the Wall," won a Grammy in 1966 and became a country and pop hit. And it even gained more popularity when Bruce Willis sang along in the film Pulp Fiction. Not too shabby for a quartet named for a box of tissue, huh? And hey, two of these guys really are brothers: Harold (bass singer) and Don (writer of this song) Reid. Born from the southern gospel quartet harmony groups of the 50s and 60s, the Statlers set the bar very, very high. This song is about a man who crashes a wedding in order to see an old love get married. He's not going to hang around to give his warmest farewells because "the groom won't shake hands anyway and I kissed the bride years ago." Years Ago Written by Don Reid Recorded by the Statler Brothers From Years Ago, 1981 Is that the one they call their song?

@JohnRoberts -- I won't post anything on January 1. That way you can say all is quiet on New Year's Day.

Here's a link to where they used to be (in Maine):
A train station and a scaled-down version of Boston's Faneuil Hall are envisioned at the east side riverbank plot where the Augusta Tissue mill once stood.

I grew up listening to The Statler Brothers. Both my grandpa and a friend's dad listened to them all the time. Didn't know they were named after a box of tissue, though.
