I posted yesterday about my bargain hunting spree and the fact that I managed to get three Christmas puddings for less than half price.
Well, through that post I have realised that not everyone knows what a Christmas pudding is ! And why should they ...
I am not going into lengthy stories about how the first Christmas pud came about ....
But what I will say is that a Christmas pudding is a steamed pudding using lots of lovely fruits, currants, sultanas, plums, raisins, cherries, all mixed into a rich cake mixture. Very often there is alcohol involved too ...this is optional but does make it very yummy....usually brandy is the alcohol of choice.
This puddings come already cooked but you do have to reheat them ...oven, pan of water or microwave....
Usually to garnish this even further cream, either pouring or whipped, or custard ( sometimes flavoured with the addition of brandy ) or even ice cream is added.
You can get brandy butter too but we like brandy cream.
This pudding as the name suggests it eaten at Christmas ( although we keep one for my Dads Birthday in May ).

Thanks, I never knew what exactly that was. It sounds divine. For the birthday in May, do you keep a pudding from now til then? It doesn't go bad?

Yuck. I can't stand Christmas pudding. I like when people add the brandy and make the blue fire glow! But I couldn't eat it.
