Happy "New Years Day," but Not from U2!

Happy New Year! It's time for my yearly "New Years Day" post (ok, I've only been on MyLot for less than two years. This is my second annual discussion on the matter,) which has both everything and nothing to do with U2.
One of my favorite indie record labels is a goth/industrial/metal label called Cleopatra Records. One of Cleo's niche's is tribute CD's, of which they have released by the truckload. If you're in a successful band, Cleopatra has almost certainly turned their roster of goth/industrial/metal acts loose in the studio to cover your songs in any way they see fit. Some of these tributes are ok, some aren't all that great, but quite a few of them are really good (their Depeche Mode and Prince tributes are particularly outstanding, for instance.)
Which brings us to We Will Follow: A Tribute to U2. It has a couple of duds, but overall, it's one of the best Cleopatra tributes I've heard.
Particularly, "New Years Day."
In a stroke of genius, the label paired industrial legends Front Line Assembly with Tiffany (yes, THAT Tiffany!) to cover the U2 classic.
On paper, much like when The KLF hooked up with Tammy Wynette, this looks like a disaster.
However, as was the case with The KLF, it is AWESOME.
Seriously, it needs to be heard to be believed just how good it is.
Of course, I've linked to it so that you don't have to go looking for it.
Enjoy!
And Happy "New Years Day" to you.

Wow, that gives me hope that some teenybopper singers can actually grow up! Quite a different — and good — take on that song!

The concept was "what if U2 had made that particular song in a different style" thing, which is usually how the best covers are made.

@teamfreak16 — and why not? After all, there are “bluegrass” renditions of Beatles and AC/DC songs....(Of course, the latter isn’t made to be taken seriously....at least I don’t think it is.)
The "Hayseed Dixie" (please pronouced "AD/DC") Bluegrass band play a fantastic cover version of the classic "Highway To Hell" Enjoy and please visit: http://...

@FourWalls - I once listened to a hip hop tribute to AC/DC. Good idea, but poorly executed.

I know. When I bought the CD, I was like "What the hell?" But it's the best song on it. And there are some pretty good covers on there.

This was actually a lot better than I thought it would be, but I think I still like the original better.
